Re-issue of Passport experience @ Bangalore PSK

I have already given you the detailed description of my passport experience. This is the experience of my husband who recently filed for his passport. This August , 2011, I had taken an appointment for his passport application. The online form submission was same as in my case , but the only difference was that this time we did not upload the documents with the application. 
There was another change in the slot booking. Now you can book only the next day's slot. It is mentioned in the website that the booking starts from 8:00 a.m. sharp. But my research (mind you...I did a lot of searching before this application) told me that the ideal time to get a slot is around 8:40 a.m. First day I just checked whether I can get a slot or not , and I logged in at 9:00 a.m. and I got the slots available from 9:45 a.m onwards. On the second day I logged in at around 8: 30 a.m. and got the 9:00 a.m. slot for him. Yuppie...
He actually applied for the damaged passport , because his passport had some problem with the visibility of his picture. He was asked by the immigration officers whenever he had traveled outside India , to change his passport. So we collected the documents required for the damaged passport re-issue case. The list of the documents are :

1. Old passport 
2. Address proof ( he took bank statement and letter from the bank)
3. Age proof ( his board certificate)
4. Affidavit in the format of Annexure L.
5. Appointment letter

Apart from this he took his degree certificate , my passport (as it already had the Bangalore address) and phone bill.
He reached there 8:15 a.m. and found out that 9:00 a.m is no more the first slot of the day , it is 8:30 a.m.!! But when the government officers (the GO and VO) don't come to the office before 10:30 a.m. why do they keep slots so early!! He was lucky as he was allowed to go inside passport office with the 8:30 a.m. slot. There were 3 to 4 counters where you will have to hand over the documents that they will ask. They will keep those documents in the file and give it to you. In that counter he was told that his passport does not fall under damage category as nothing was damaged according to them. So they asked him to apply for a new passport for address change and spouse name addition. So he did not submit the affidavit. As the bank statement was quite huge , they told him to give xerox copy of the first and the last page only. No age proof was required. Only the marriage certificate was asked to be given.
After that counter he had to go to the A counter which was again the same as in my case. All these were done at around 9:00 a.m. , then began the endless wait for the verification and granting officers. This time there was a change. There were 4 VO counters and 3 to 4 GO counters ( in my case there were only 2 VO and 1 GO....you can imagine the long queues at that time ). The VO officers started coming after 9:30 a.m and the GO came after 10:30 a.m. So it took 3 hours to finish everything. He was free by 11:20 a.m.
The next day onwards the website showed that his passport has been granted on that day and will be dispatched soon , but after 2 to 3 days , the status message changed as the date of the passport grant changed. I got a little worried but waited patiently. And on the 10th day after his application being submitted , the passport was dispatched by speed post and it was in my hand on the 11th day. He was in the office so I collected it from the postman showing him the old passport of his. I think the passport seva kendra is getting better day by day.

  3. The PSK starts at 9.30 am (Government hours are from 0930 to 1800 hours). However the 8.30 slots are given for the applicants to come early and get their documents verified so that as soon as the government office hours start at 9.30 am, their process can be done fast.

  4. I have logged in from 7:59 am and trying to get an appointment. Whenever i click on 'Manage Appointment' button, I am seeing a message saying "Maximum number of appointments exceeded for the day". It is 8:45 now and I am getting same message. Am I missing something...pls help.

  5. I think your internet speed plays an important role in booking a slot as I have read somewhere. Moreover do check for the slots after 9:00 a.m. , you might be lucky as I was.

  6. Pls note that Quota release time changed to 6PM. For 3rd date appointment, pls book on 1st date at 6PM.

  7. Hi I am trying to book a slot between 6-6:15 PM for last 4 days. I am getting "Maximum number of appointments exceeded for the day" error.

  8. that is a common issue......you have to try it early as the slots get booked very quickly.

    My eience at Shalimar Bagh PSK, New Delhi.
    Very prompt & good service. Looks unlike any Govt. office. Staff is polite & helpful.
    Got my acknowledgement in 1.5 hours.
    TCS rules !!!

Could some one advise on the time taken for reissue of passport along with a change of address.My appointment was for the 28 April wherein all the requisitre documents were submitted. as per the receipt police verification would be done post issue.The site shows the status as "Passport application haqs been granted to applicanton 16/04/2012. Your application is under provcessing. You would receive an e mail/SMS once the passport is dispaytched" I coiuld not decypher this statement and contacted the toll free number and they were also not able to clarify. could someone tell me what is the status in simple terms and when can I expect the passport??

    Great info, I want to know about Annexure L, wher did you get your notary done? or is it just that we fill in all the details on plain paper and sign it.

  16. for annexure L, you have to go to a notary. Either they will type the matter in a stamp paper(it should be of minimum value) or ask you to get it done.Then the notary will sign it and stamp it.You have to pay a fee to the notary.

    Good to know that you and your husband got the your passports in time.
    I have a query reg marriage certificate..
    On Passport seva website its mentioned that marriage certificate should be 'attested'.Does it mean self attested or by local SP office?
    I have not done any attestation to it since the date of registration.
    Should i carry joint affidevit on a safer side?
    Pls guide.

  18. Hi Neeraj, you need to carry your original marriage certificate along with some xerox copies of it. You don't need to attest the original. The original must have your sign along with the stamp of the registrar, that is what the passport office want.

    One question, did he got a new passport created, or was the older passport modified with spouse details ?

  22. hi! can u tell me if it is compulsory to upload the scanned documents on the site or can we just take the documents to the PSK without uploading it online first?

    1. There is no need of uploading the scanned documents. You can directly go to the PSK with the documents.

  23. Applied for the re-issue of my wife's passport.Got
    a appointment for 10/10/2012 at 10.45am.
    My question is will they allow me (husband) to go
    together with my wife as she might not be able to
    go through the proceeds.

    1. No they will not. They allow only for child and disabled assistance. You can request them but don't be too hopeful.

  24. I applied for fresh passport in Ghaziabad PSK on 23 August, 2012 under normal Scheme. When I checked the Status of the Passport, ststus shown that the application is review under SP office of your District. Does anyone tell me that how much time does it take to reached me under normal quota? As I want it urgently in the month of November for educational tour. Is there any mail id for complaint or any of the other method. Please try to help me for this

    Would like to know, did you file an FIR for the damaged passport?
    Or only a written statement from the passport holder stating how and when the passport was damaged is enough for the affidavit?

    We did not file any FIR,a simple affidavit in the given format was okay...though later the PSK took the application in normal passport application quota not as a damaged one.

    Would like to know about the affidavit format.In the format do we need to say N/A for not applicable details or we need to remove those things from affidavit?My application is on Hold since my Affidavit is not in Annexure L format.

    Would like to know, did you filled non applicable details e.g; State whether you availed of any TR concessions/FTs allowance and if so details thereof? with N/A or removed from the affidavit?
    My application is on hold, affidavit is not in Annexure L format?
