Tidel Residency is situated near ECR office at Thiruvanmiyur , Chennai. It is just 3 to 4 minutes away from the Thiruvanmiyur signal. It is approximately 10 to 15 kms from the Central station. You can book this hotel online through their own website. The tariff is around INR 1000/- per night for an ac room. The rooms are spacious and contain TV , Geyser etc. Their restaurant is nice and serves some delicious food but it closes strictly by 3 p.m. They have a car parking facility. There are many shops around the hotel. You can just walk for a kilometer and get ATM (AXIS bank) , Spencer super market and many eateries in that area. The local vegetable market is also very close to that place. And one can avail buses from the few meters away bus stand. There are some religious places near it , like- Asthalakshmi temple , church etc. And the best part is that this hotel is situated very close to the beach. The beach is small but very calm. You can go for a morning walk at the beach.
The hotel staffs are good and helping in nature. They have a call taxi facility too for station/airport drop (but I found it a little expensive). But I think this hotel is a good value for money and I will surely recommend this to everyone.
I am glad you had a good experience, but ours was terrible. I traveled from Delhi to Chennai for an official trip & booked the hotel after seeing their number on the internet. The person who answered the phone confirmed the booking. I reached there saturday 9pm with my wife & son, to be told that I need to wait for 20mins though I had called from airport to confirm exact time I would reach. While I waited & it was about 15mins, a Tamil speaking couple in early 40s walked in & was given a warm welcome. They seemed like regulars & was inquiring about room availability. I saw the person who had earlier gone to supervise our room cleaning, come over & immediately hand over the keys to this couple. It was clear that our reserved room was just handed over to someone else who just walked in, right in front of us. When I went & protested, with a smirk the man at reception said they were regulars & had to be given preferences. I continued to wait since it was late for us to start searching for a new hotel. After another 10mins a big group consisting of atleast 9 people who again spoke tamil walks in to enquire about rooms. The guy at reception gives me a quick glance then asks them to wait. Again the previous routine happens, just that this time, they wanted 3rooms, but was given our key as 1 & asked to wait for the rest 2!! I was furious & went to have a word with the staff. Instead of being apologetic, they were defensive & said they had to ensure a big group like that doesn't leave & I have to wait, else could leave. Since we had by now waited for more than an hour & it was late, they assumed we were trapped. I called up a cab & looked up other hotels in my laptop then & finally escaped out of Tidel Residency
